Background Information

Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. Following his graduation from Harvard University and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Dr. George Hatzigiannis pursued training at the prestigious University of Connecticut Health Center. Along with completing the full course of rotations required for oral and maxillofacial surgery, Dr. Hatzigiannis also went to medical school and completed two full years of general surgery training, placing him in an elite minority of surgeons.

With such extensive training, and over a decade of experience, Dr Hatzigiannis practices a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial regions. Dr. Hatzigiannis practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with particular expertise in dental implant surgery and wisdom tooth removal, facial trauma and pathology, and the safest possible delivery of anesthesia. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort.

Our staff is trained in assisting with Intravenous (IV) sedation and outpatient general anesthesia in our state-of-the-art office setting. Patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery.
